Hello, From Australia

I have been a member of this great platform for just a little over a week now, and only just found this introduce me section... So here goes.

I am a 29 year old front-end engineer from sunny and currently very hot/humid Queensland, Australia. I have a wife and son who is a few years of age.

I primarily work with Javascript, HTML and CSS (these are my core competencies). I specialise in rapid prototyping and large-scale web application development, I have a penchant for building "native" mobile apps using ReactJS as well.

Besides my main passion, I have a passion for blockchain and cryptocurrency, not just the investment side of things but also the technical side.

I run a personal blog where I blog about front-end development things mostly, I get close to 100k visitors per month (no advertising, all organic). I actually joined Steemit for a couple of reasons.

The first reason I joined this site was because it's a new slate for me, I can post whatever I want without worrying about alienating the audience on my personal blog.

The second reason is having the chance to make some money from authoring quality content. I had ads on my blog for a couple of years, and even with 100k visitors would earn $10 per month if I was lucky.

Money isn't the main motivator for me. The creative freedom I have to write about cryptocurrency, blockchain, technology, music and other things I love on this platform is liberating.

In my spare time I write music, I try and record music as much as possible (nothing online as of yet). I've been playing guitar for almost 15 years, but it has only been the last five I've started to learn music theory, scales and even the names of non-standard chords.

Admittedly, it has been a hard week on Steemit. You really need to put in the hustle and grind on this platform to get noticed (upvotes and comments), but I strongly believe if I write and engage everyday, eventually it'll pay off in the end.

I really look forward to building a rapport with the community, authoring some of the best content I can and exploring some of the other great content this platform has to offer.

It's intriguing, why the choice of name?

Anyways, glad to have another dev join the platform. I'll go straight to the point - you have the capability of making a great impact to the platform. STEEM has been only here for two years, as far as I know, but I believe the concept in the mind of the creators has been longer than that.

Fantastic, thank you for those invite links. Just joined all three Discord channels. The name isn't anything special, it's just a song title from one of my favourite bands Thrice. I like the way it looks and sounds, haha.

Thanks, mate. I put in some huge effort the last week, publishing a tonne of content and interacting way more. Always keen to catch up with other Steemians, I work in the suburbs (northside) but I occasionally head into the city. Next time I am heading in I'll hit you up and see if you're free.
