Background
Vitalik Buterin, born in Russia on January 31st, 1994, is an entrepreneur, engineer, and founder of Ethereum. During his younger years, Vitalik was an avid World of Warcraft player. He played the Warlock class and the “Siphon Life” spell was nerfed. After realizing how unfair centralized systems were, Vitalik quit the video game and tried to find his next calling in life.
That calling first came with Bitcoin and he later co-founded the famous Bitcoin Magazine, earning $1.5 hourly, with Mihai Alisie. Vitalik later attended the University of Waterloo, but his curiosity was still spent on blockchain technology. He realized college was not the right medium for his work and later found Ethereum. Vitalik soon became a Thiel fellow in 2014 and the rest was history.
Ethereum
Ethereum aims to be a ‘World Computer’ that would decentralize the existing client-server model using smart contracts. Some say it’ll even bring us into Web 3.0 (Internet 3.0). Fast forward to 2018, we are excited to see what the Ethereum ecosystem will become and how it will revolutionize limitless applications around the world.
