My first blog post ever!

Hi everybody! After reading a bit how everything works on SteemIt, I am going to introduce myself a bit.
I have been thinking about starting a blog for quite some time, writing about interesting stuff, but it never came to that because of lack of time and the enormous amount of effort it requires to make it stand out in the first place… But, I guess that SteemIt can make a big change if one does it right.

My name is Rudi and I am living in Perú, after having left my home country Holland a few years ago now. Perú is a beautiful country and offers a lot of opportunities. After having worked as a mechanical engineer for 15 years in Holland, the financial crisis finally put me out of work and gave me a chance to persue my dream… Living in a marvelous country with my beautiful Peruvian girlfriend, where you can feel the summer spirit almost all year long ☺.

As a mechanical engineer I have done some incredible projects in the automotive and aviation industry. Developing engine parts for cars and trucks and components for a helicopter and a jetfighter has been a real challenge and a dream job. Since Perú has not a lot to offer in engineering, I had to find some work in a different area. In my home country, writing software in my sparetime was (one of) my passion(s). With about 10 years of writing programs and web systems, I had already developed enough experience with that, so I decided to have a go in the software business. My dedication right now is in systems engineering in the IT industry with my own company. It’s a slow process and only recently I am seeing some positive progress.

I have done a lot in my life and maybe I can contribute with some interesting stuff. If I can also get some reward for sharing my knowledge, than that would be great. My hobbies have been about repairing total loss cars, building electronic gadgets, writing software and websites for my private projects, cooking, upto making beautiful furniture.
