Hi Steemit! Introducing ME, Asad Naveed ; Doctor, Entrepreneur & Health Activist
Hi **#steemit** family/ friends,
I am so ecstatic to be here. I am a **doctor** from Sierra Leone, West Africa, which has one of the weakest health systems in the world. Our maternal mortality and under 5 mortality ratios are the highest in the world. Our life expectancy is one of the lowest.
I am on a mission to improve **health** systems not only in Sierra Leone but also in other developing countries and I hope to be sharing my experiences with all of you here. I am very excited to join this platform and hope to network with lots of you like-minded friends here.
I introduce myself in three ways:
**1. #Doctor** - I am a junior doctor and I'd love to specialise in surgery.
**2. #Entrepreneur** - I believe social entrepreneurship can solve many health challenges.
**3. #Health Activist** - I get frustrated with the weak systems in a hospital and in my country and I continue to advocate for better health services in Sierra Leone and beyond.
As some of you may know, Sierra Leone had the recent Ebola scourge and when our country got affected by this disease, I was still a medical student. I led the medical students' during this period to do health awareness campaigns in communities. For this work, my Association got the Nelson Mandella-Graca Machel Award for Innovation and I was invited to Colombia to collect the award:
After this event, I have been invited to numerous events. I continue to advocate for achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goal 3 which hopes to achieve health and well being for all before 2030. I am still applying for post-graduate training and hope to use this blog to update on the progress I make everyday.
I made a video recently on 'How I unleashed my Giant'. It is about a visit of mine to Denmark where I was invited to be part of a cohort which developed social entrepreneurship ideas that can solve the world's problems. You can see it below. Any feedback on this is welcome in the comments section:
Yesterday is history, today is a mystery and tomorrow is a mystery but today is a gift that's why it's called present and I am looking forward to connect with all of you **today** and hoping to have an amazing time on **#steemit**
Cheers,
Asad

Sad to know about the poor health facilities in your area.
Welcome !!
Awesome! welcome!
What do you think about building a platform to help doctors work in teams with a patient rather than it being misdiagnosis after another?
Welcome
Hey great post. It’s a beautiful thing what you are doing and just shows hope to many people. People like you are examples of the light that will shape this world. Thank you.
I didn't know Sierra Leone has the poorest health system until now. Wish you the best on your quest to improve the health system there, with more people like you the world will be a better place.
Thanks so much Dee. Yes it has one of the weakest systems indeed. And we are still far from getting up in the stats. I am looking forward to connecting with you. :)
