Hey Steemians.... This is my story on how I landed here

 Hi guys. I wanted to share my story on how I came across Steem and why I think it was almost a perfect crypto currency and a perfect fit for me.

My story starts like most people who self discover digital marketing. With lots of Googling around affiliate links and researching crazy ways to make money from home. I was in a standard commercial sales job at the time. I had already done a very small business beforehand, so I had some knowledge of digital marketing but I didn’t realise how much it would take over my life and direction. After deciding enough was enough, I left the sales jobs and moved to a small local digital marketing agency here in the UK. I remember thinking back then “yes I’m finally going to learn all the SEO secrets!!”. How wrong was I… 

I learnt very quickly that there were no secrets in SEO and it all came down to good optimisation, content marketing and PR. Luck would have it that the agency I worked in was going places and it put me in front of some very big clients to work on and gain even more marketing knowledge. It was about this time, I had just been promoted to manage a small search team there where I discovered bitcoin. 

I don’t know what it was about bitcoin but I absolutely loved every aspect of it. Despite having no money to put into it, I started learning very quickly about mining and the overall concept. At that point, I scrambled together what money I had and decided I would pre-order an expensive ASIC miner from Butterfly labs which would arrive in the months ahead. This kept me very excited in Bitcoin, learning how it worked, the potential of it, the benefits, the risks, everything. 

It was about 2 months after the miner should have arrived that I started to worry and wonder if it would ever get here. I tried to contact Butterfly Labs to get a response but failed to do so. To this day I still do not know whether it was lost in the post or if I was one of the unfortunate ones that failed to get theirs delivered. I was gutted. I won’t go into detail on this here but it looks like they are being investigated for this or similar issues if you google around. To make it clear. I have no bad blood for Butterfly Labs, I try to think positively about most things and move on. However, it does add a certain frustration to my mind when I look at the current price of Bitcoin today and it makes me wonder “what if I had received the miner?” What kind of wealth would I have right now? 

To cut to the chase, since then I have launched my own digital marketing agency in the UK and I am fortunate enough to have some spare cash. Mix this with my determination to recoup my losses and missed potential from bitcoin you can see why I am keen to look for another way into the crypto currency market. After some thinking, I have decided to put jump onto Steem. 

Why Steem? I can probably speak for all those in the content marketing industry that when I first heard of Steem. I immediately saw Steemit as the real asset for this currency and the potential is huge. I found Steem recently by the man @JerryBanfield and the course he released on his website. Kudos to Jerry for pointing me in the direction of Steem.  

I started looking at the Steemit website like I would for any other client in digital marketing. Immediately what I saw was an early stage version of reddit that had the currency fluctuations of an early IPO Facebook. On top of that I know first-hand the potential of growth this thing can have when organic search kicks in properly and everybody’s content starts ranking well in search engines and even more traffic comes to the website. It is only going to attract more attention, more signups and more potential. Basically, Steem is the perfect currency for me to invest in based on my history and skill-set. 

One thing I have always wished I did more of was to write and share my knowledge. What better way than to start that today on a brand-new platform that you get a direct monetary benefit from. I am really excited now I am finally on Steem. I will be putting a regular amount per month into Steem as an investment of sorts and I look forward to seeing what the community is like. I hope everybody here sees the potential I see and helps to share the best content they can on here. Because believe me, it is up to us as the community to build this platform and if we do, it will be game changing for everyone.
