It is hard work but rewarding. I do it sometimes. I learn from my dad and from others when I worked with others in New York and West Virginia.
That's great. Creating something is fulfilling and to have a connection to your belongings is very rewarding. To eat every day on the table you have made with your own hands, eating the food you have cooked, or to build your own house, to look at what you have created every day - that's a beautiful lifestyle.
