Draft 1: Don't fall asleep during a massage.

My massage therapist recommended Steemit to me.

Without having read the FAQ or Steem whitepaper, I thought I could only join once I had a perfect article. Months have gone by without me contributing a single thing to the community because I’ve been fretting over the several articles that I have started—and not finished—that sound too opinionated, uneducated, or not eloquent enough to publish (can you tell I’ve never published anything before?).

That being said, I finally read the Beginner’s Guide to Steemit last night and decided to adhere to the old adage, “done is better than perfect”. You may have seen some of my scattered comments on the few posts I’ve managed to read and engage with thus far, but until I contribute my own original post, it appears that my votes hold little value.

I joined Steemit to experiment with curating content that appeals to my academic and professional interests, and well as get some feedback from a reputable community on some of my opinions on these topics. My first posts will likely be summaries of notable books I’ve read and what information and perspectives I’ve gleaned from them. You’ll likely see my work follow an exponential learning curve from sloppy and opinionated to—hopefully—insightful and open-minded, the kind of work that invites disruptive discussion. Isn’t that why we’re all here?

From my Twitter bio: Electrochemical engineering, nuclear physics, clinical economics (essentially, clean energy and how its infrastructure contributes to development). These are my current muses. I may also upvote any article describing unique kombucha recipes to feed my addiction to the brew.

Most of the time I can’t keep track of what I’m doing, so Steemit will likely be an additional medium that reflects that. Along the way, I look forward to adding value to this also somewhat chaotic community.
