Hello, World!

I go by Eli and today I am a 21 year old American college student. Finally, after almost a month of procrastination, I have decided to author my first blog post on Steemit. I was brought here after spending some time researching Bitcoin, cryptocurrencies and blockchain technologies on the internet. I don't know what to expect from this website in the future, but I expect some big changes to a lot of industries resulting from these innovations in cryptography and I just hope that Steemit continues to grow into the first big social media site on a blockchain. I'm here, in part because of the financial incentive, but mostly because I want this platform to become something revolutionary and I want to take part in creating a better future, not just for social media, but for anything and everything that blockchains will inevitably disrupt and improve in our lives.  but enough about that, this post is supposed to be about me!


Here's a picture of me skydiving in my beautiful home state of Florida, which by the way, happens to also be a place filled with crazy people and old retired folk who should probably not be driving. Anyway, jumping out of an airplane was an incredible experience, but what I like more than experiences are ideas, and falling out of the sky reminded me of a few ideas which we all need to be reminded of every now and then. This world is an amazing place filled with possibilities and, as a young person, it is up to me to take part in creating a future for it. Technology does not just get better on it's own; we will not continue to progress as a species unless a lot of very smart people work really hard for a long time to make it that way. That's one reason why I'm studying, learning and researching every day to become a part of that future. Personally, I'm very interested in a few main things that I know will be a large part of the future: neuroscience, psychology, and computer science. Those are the things which I am going to school for and that give my life purpose. 

Cognitive science, like blockchain technology, is still in it's infancy and there will be some paradigm-shifting new things to come out of the field as we continue to learn more about the brain and how it works. Computers and the internet are also very new things that have already revolutionized just about everything we do every day. To me, there is nothing in the world more important than those things, and I hope they peak your interest too, because I will mostly be posting about:

Politically, I somewhat identify with the labels anarcho-communist, left-libertarian, syndicalist, mutualist or socialist, but I prefer to focus more on specific issues than ideologies. I do not follow or believe in any religions. I write music various different kinds of music from EDM to brutal death metal to classical. I just love science and learning about the real world. I spend a lot of time talking and debating deep philosophical topics. I am particularly interested in consciousness and plan to get my degree in human-computer interaction.
