Do not misplace your password like I did on Steemit
Hey guys I thought this would be a good post for all of the newbies and some of the fellow steemians thats been around for a while.
I've heard about Steemit last Summer but figured I wait until I know more about it before I joined. I joined Steemit in January of this year and thought ok I got it game on. I created my account and went through the whole process on my Iphone getting ready to go to my office.
After the waiting period and copying the passcode from my phone I simply copied and texted it to my girls phone. This was all while getting dressed. Needless to say a few days went by and I tried logging into my account with the password and BOOM wrong password.
Here are some tips to make sure you have the correct password as you cannot recover your account unless you have the original password.
Create your account on a desktop and only concentrate on creating the account at that time. Do not do it while getting ready or being distracted.
When you receive your password make sure you verify the password by the first and last 3 characters. When you copy and paste sometimes you could be a couple of digits off. Verify this 3 times to make sure you have it.
When you create your account you can download the steemit backup. This will have your username password and private keys. Print them out and store in a safe place.
I am glad I didn't power up my account beforehand as I would have been pissed and lost my crypto. I hope this helps guys.
Welcome to Steem Community @c4rest! As a gentle reminder, please keep your master password safe. The best practise is to use your private posting key to login to Steemit when posting; and the private active key for wallet related transactions.
