Meantime Intro.
Fill in the blanks:
I want to be a ______.
My dream is to _____.
When asked what you want to be in school, like all of us are, you spout out the jobs you see in your favorite TV show or cartoon. I want to be an astronaut! Says one kid! I want to be a pilot! Says the other. When my first grade teacher asked me this question, I thought for a second and said, "I want to be He-Man!" (Millennials please google…and your welcome).
Fast forward to one week before high school graduation at our annual career fair. I walk into the library because it has the best air conditioning and I see a friend of mine sitting with a man in a uniform. I walk over and ask him, " Hey man whatcha doin?" "I'm joining the navy" he said. I take a moment to think, ponder over my original "Master of the Universe" plan and realize that that's not possible (tigers are crazy expensive) and before I knew what I was doing, I signed the papers too. I was now a sailor.
Jump forward again almost 20 years later, here I am sitting inside a convenience store in Japan and still no closer to completing those sentences. I've been hopping from one job to the next hoping that something sticks. From years of experience I can easily tell you what I am not:
I'm not a customer service rep.
I'm not a diner cook.
I'm not a sailor. Even though those port visits were insane!
I'm not an electrician.
I'm not a Sears mattress associate.
And I sure as fuck am not a door-to-door vacuum salesman. (more on that later)
After years of reading books, taking online seminars, and watching self help gurus on Youtube, I am just as clueless about what I want to do with my life as I was that day in the second grade. I've made it my mission to find my passion and create a lifestyle I can enjoy, before my wife runs out of patience.
So join me as I do a bunch of random shit to try and better my life. Maybe you'll learn something, or maybe you'll be inspired. One things for sure, it'll be entertaining in the meantime.
Boom!
