Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde is two figures-or one character, depending on how you look-in a Robert Louis Stevenson novel entitled The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, published in 1886. This novel is considered a classic novel in the Victorian literature and a sinister allegory about the duality of human nature. In an attempt to separate these two personalities, Dr. Jekyll creates an ingredient that will bring out a side of evil personality in itself: Mr. Hyde. Mr. physically Hyde looks different from Dr. Jekyll, her smaller, hunched body that portrays the Victorian idea of ​​the link between the appearance of the body and its moral faculties.

Although at first the body changes. Jekyll happens as a scientific experiment, he becomes obsessed with the character of Mr. Hyde. Disguised as Mr. Hyde, he wanders the streets and commits vile crimes, and eventually kills someone and realizes that he can not change back into himself unless he drinks his reversing potion. He drank the potion to hide his identity from the authorities but eventually he ran out of supplies to make it and realized that he was cursed to live his life as Mr. Hyde, then Dr. Jekyll also committed suicide in his own laboratory.

The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde contains a number of themes, not just about the good and evil in Victorian society in general. The life of Victorian society tends to be very dualistic and a very heavy social burden is placed on the shoulders of prominent community members such as a doctor. As Mr. Hyde, Dr. Jekyll was able to escape from the social fantasies of his society: and this ability eventually swallowed his personality. Jekyll is neutral. To the reader has never been shown the side of the pure angel of Dr.'s personality. Jekyll, it is likely to show that the only one personality deep within us is an evil and animal personality who knows the moral rules but chooses not to obey them.

A person who experiences mood swings and becomes evil or behaving uncertainly is sometimes referred to as having the personality of Jekyll and Hyde, with reference to the novel. Many people who never read Stevenson's book but are already familiar with the character because this story has penetrated popular culture through his own book, stage drama, and movie adaptation.
