Hi,

Thanks for reading. First off, before talking about myself I'll just give a shout-out and thanks to @jerrybanfield who is the reason I joined STEEMIT at this time. Jerry - your videos are great and I'm sure you'll be a great asset to this community.

So, meanwhile, back to my story.

I'm in the UK but have lived in Germany, Boston (USA) and Singapore, and travelled all over the world for most of my life.

I'm a musician and self taught in drums, piano and guitar. I've played guitar and drums in bands and had some amazing gigs all over the UK and abroad.

I'm a techie - I've always been into computers and usually build my own PCs and use several operating systems (Mac, Windows, Linux) and various browsers (Firefox, Opera, Safari, Chrome, IE) and have build over 1000 websites and helped a lot of people use the Internet to market themselves and their businesses.

I'm a trader - stocks and shares and Forex.

About 5 years ago I got in to Bitcoin and was mining using ASICs but the technology grew quicker than my budget did so I stopped and focused on Forex.

Recently I started learning about all the current crypto currencies and move some Bitcoins into Ethereum and while researching ETH I realised for less than £2K I could build a mining rig that could earn me over £300 per month. So started building one.
Being a trader my first thought was to leverage the ETH and take 50% in cash and push the other 50% into other Cryto currencies.

While doing more research I found Jerry Banfield and his fun and interesting Youtube videos. Jerry indicated that he was moving out of DASH and in to something new and in one of his paid courses would share what that is. Knowing how much of a content generator Jerry is I figured - just the heads-up on where he's moving is worth the price of his course, so I paid and found out he was getting in to STEEM, so here I am.

I love learning and I love helping people, so over the years I've had over 10,000 posts in several different forums, so I do like the community that a good forum can create.

Anyway - that's a quick intro to me. Over time I'll share some stories with you that include:

The time I went to a strip bar after one of my bands gigs and had everyone in the place watching what I had the girls doing for me.
The time I abseiled from a helicopter onto a boat of drug traffickers.
The times I've met the Queen of England
The Famous musicians I've met
The time I did disaster relief in Haiti

and more......

Welcome indeed. An interesting introduction too. I look forward to hearing more on your adventures - my vote goes for the abseiling story ;)

Thanks.

Ok, well... it was a dark and stormy night :)

Actually it was pretty good weather but the sea was a bit choppy. I was on a ship that was working with the Canadian coast guard patrolling the waters in the Bahamas where there were a lot of drug exchanges happening in the surrounding waters.

It was pretty common for a plane to drop things into the water which would get collected by waiting boats.

-- warning, I'm gonna just cover a slightly related story which I just remembered --
2 days previously we'd stopped when we found a boat where the people onboard claimed they had run out of fuel and needed help (they didn't ask for help until we pulled up alongside them with a ship covered in weapons).

After a quick investigation our engineer established that they had a cut-off valve in their fuel line to be able to pretend they'd run out of fuel if they were stopped. On this occasion the boarding team also found a GPS device which was not functioning and it was given to me (as the go-to techie) to see if I could get it working. It was an easy fault and I got it working quickly, and it was sent to our navigator who then plotted all of the locations which the device had tracked (it even had waypoints to their intended locations) and I then put it back in the condition it was found and it was returned (stealthily) back to where it came from.
This led to some really good intelligence and tracking of their activities.

Ok, back to the original story....

We found another vessel, this time a big bigger with more people and it was determined that a slightly more robust approach was needed.

Although my main role at the time was maintaining Radar systems, I was also in charge of a group of gunners for the GPMG (General Purpose Machine Gun) rigs when needed (Think Arnie in Commando :) ) so a team of us were kitted-out with AS80 Rifles and boarded the ships helicopter.

When we reached the target boat we absailed from the Helo onto the boat so that we could establish control and not be at risk of being overpowered if they were feeling brave/stupid.

We found some drugs stashed aboard and escorted them into custody, so it was a productive effort.
Ironically, when I joined the military I was a bit scared of heights, but after one particular event (I might cover it in another post) at the top of the main mast of an aircraft carrier I got over that :)

Thanks - I get the picture! A man of action and adventure with stories to tell!

Welcome! Upvoted and followed!

Thanks.

I'm also an NLPer (Master Practitioner) so happy to see your profile. Will follow you back.
