Job interview preparation

Before going for an interview it is really, really crucial to be ready. It is so important to practice interview questions as some can and will throw you off unless you are prepared. No matter how skillful and howmuch experience you have, you have to be ready to sell yourself as you are usually not the only candidate applying. I had to learn this as I thought my skills and experience is all I needed to easily land a job but that is not the case.

Here are some common job interview questions by Ford Myers:

1. Why do you want to work here? How can you help our company?
2. What weaknesses do you have for this job?
3. What do you expect to get from this job that you didn't get from your previous job?
4. What do you see as your future here?
5. Are you considering other positions at this time?
6. How does this compare?
7. What your short and long term goals?
8. What other companies/ opportunities are you looking at now?
9. What motivates you?
10. What have you done to improve yourself in the last year?
11. How do you spend your spare time?
12. How is your health?
13. What is your greatest achievement or disappointment in life?
14. Describe yourself in one word.
15. What do you dislike about yourself?
16. What did you like least about your previous job?
17. Which do you prefer team work or working alone?
18. What are some of the more difficult problems you have encountered in your past job and how did you solve them?
19. Name an instant where your customer service made a difference in service outcome.
20. At your previous job, what could management have done to make you function more effectively as an employee?
21. What has kept you from progressing further in your career?

24. Everyone loves to criticize. What do people criticize about you?

You must never speak negatively of your previous company, have examples of instances where you made a difference at your current or previous job. Have stories that showcase your responsible personality. You never want to take too long to answer such questions as it would look like you did not prepare for the interview or are wasting their time. Be confident and remember that you do have something to offer and don't undervalue your personal brand.
Also if you are going for a face to face interview be ready to have the proper attire. Pretty much dress as if you are going to meet a significant other's parents. Really decent and certainly no street clothes. No heavy perfumes or non at all.
