What is Cova?

Cova is a smart data internet protocol that is meant to remember, know when to keep a secret, learn from it users etc.
Cova was introduced because the current suites of internet protocols are not smart enough to understand what data is being sent. Although they make sure the data gets to the direct destination and protocol that requires it. But the data while being sent does not have a mind of its own, can be abused by hackers and is very exposed to anyone with a direct access to the network.

Covalent has a policy called the smart policy that makes sure users and their data are well protected and the data owners are allowed to describe how the data should be used and what would be able to access the data by setting a data usage policy. This policy is a machine enforceable policy that was enforceable by law.

The covalent technology consist of three parts which are the TEE Network, Centrifuge, and Cova Virtual Machine.

TEE Network: The TEE network is an abbreviation of Trusted Execution Environment. It is the first step carried out in the protocol and it comes with a scalable amount of trusted computing powers which allows us to make very important assumption about the behavior of supervisor programs.

Centrifuge is a new language created by covalent, this is a Policy Specification Language (PSL) that can translate into smart policies which are enforceable code, the human notions of data usage policy. This human notions of data usage policy are expressed in natural language and enforceable by law while the smart policy which is enforceable by code is a programming language.

Cova Virtual Machine or Cova VM is a Policy Enforcement Framework (PEF) that enforces the policy written in centrifuge. That is the policy can be run on the Cova VM.

The Covalent has released a private testnet and any interested person can apply to test the framework. By going to the site https://covalent.ai/index.html and clicking on the join private testnet tab, which will the direct you to an online google form where you will be able to apply.

Covalent is also organizing their first AMA session since starting their project, giving chance to the community to be able to ask the team questions and relate. You can find the information about the AMA on their reddit channel https://www.reddit.com/r/Covalent_Official/ users are required to fill in an online form and ask to suggest a suitable date although the official AMA data has been scheduled for Thursday 16th of August 14, 2018.

Finally the Cova team have an ongoing application for hackers and coders to help in building the project and you must meet the following criteria.

1. You have been coding since middle school and have spent more time hacking games than playing them.
2. You have competed and won coding competition.
3. You graduated from a top university and have 3 years of engineering experience.
