Yesterday the ignorance of the representative policy of the EU Parliament won again causing damaging effects on Internet freedom.
366 Members of the Parliament ignored people calls asking them to #SaveYourInternet on social media and many different channels, as they supported the copyright #CensorshipMachine.
Results available here: http://www.europarl.europa.eu/sides/getDoc.do?pubRef=-%2f%2fEP%2f%2fNONSGML%2bPV%2b20180912%2bRES-RCV%2bDOC%2bPDF%2bV0%2f%2fEN&language=EN

This can have devastating consequences on the current use of the internet and the possibility of accessing information freely by users.

With the execution of this law, any online platform that offers content from its users will have to review everything that is uploaded and eliminate what goes against copyright.
Article 13 wants to force platforms to install censoring algorithms; robots scanning all the uploads for copyrighted material and then censoring it out before it is shared.
Users when posting content will see messages like this: "We're sorry for interrupting your work, but automated copyright remote filters are mandated by the EU's Article 13".
This Law will prohibit, for example, publishing videos on YouTube with memes that are registered by their authors.

This will mean that independent creators will be very disadvantaged with these systems having to eliminate works that do not pass the filters and will be considered "guilty until proven innocence", having to fight to have their legal creations re-published.
It is also a problem for the creation of Startups and new Internet projects for user-generated content.

But there is still time to fight! 💪

We ask everyone for help by joining the different platforms that are creating strong movements against these measures being carried out by the European Union. It's time to stay together for the freedom of the internet:

This is horrific and will truly limit our Internet Freedom. I’ll make sure to share this within my networks all over Europe.
