Noch 10 Sekunden! (10 seconds left!) - the leader of the expedition grabs the lever that will produce the launch of the rocket.
Noch 6 Sekunden! (There are 6 seconds left!)
The numbers are getting bigger: 5, 4, 3, 2, 1,
JETZT! (Now!)

We have all been excited by the countdown to the launch of a rocket ... but the truth is that it is really all a pantomime mounted precisely to give emotion to the matter.

In the real world, any space launch is controlled by automatic systems that ensure that all the mechanisms and systems on board the rocket and ground equipment are activated in the right sequence and at the right time, with little human intervention. In fact in a Russian launch there is no countdown.

NASA copied the idea of the countdown of Frau im Mond, a film by Fritz Lang from 1929. In it it is seen how, through intertitles, the moment of the launching is coming.

Lang had the technical advice of Hermann Oberth for the film, so the rocket is surprisingly realistic in terms of the technical solutions implemented in its design and operation.
