Ambient Intelligence
Ambient Intelligence is a electronic environment having ability to sense and react upon user reactions and presence. It was developed in 1990 for the time frame 2010-2020 having vision of Electronic devices, telecommunications and computing. In Ambience environment or Aml devices work together to help people to carry out their life activities in an easy and natural manner with the help of Internet of Things(IOTs). With the advancement of technology the device sizes becomes smaller and smaller, they can be more connected and integrated into the Aml environment and creating a huge abstraction layer by only providing the interface and hiding the technology behind it.
Ambient Intelligence system is characterised by following system and technologies :
Embedded
It refers to a system which consists of a large number of networked devices communication with each other and integrated into the Ambient Intelligence Environment.
Conscious
The technology behind Ambient Intelligence let the system be aware of your presence. It can respond based on your actions. In order to have a system like that it consists of a large number of sensors throughout the environment and keeping a realtime tab on your activities.
Adaptive
Ambient Intelligence is made in this way that it can adapt based on the user and perform actions and reaction adapting to the user need.
Anticipatory
The system gathers a lot of information about a user and thus can anticipate the user actions by leaning about user history actions and data.
Ambient Intelligence needs a lot of high tech hardwares and technologies to become a reality. Technologies like nanotechnology, smart devices and sensors, seamless networking, distributed devices communication, human centric computer interfaces, biometrics and more. These technologies are not available as of today or only prototypes are available. There will be several number of application of Ambience Intelligence like Smart homes, Medical Applications, Smart Transportation, Innovation in Education sector and the list goes on.

So this intelligent system could essential adapt to become alert of the users real time needs without the user having to set it up on a timer schedule or preprogrammed data? That would be very beneficial to a lot of people in the mental health community. It could help someone like myself, who has indifferianted or henephrenic schizophrenia, function much more easily at home for a longer period of time. I struggle with basic things like shower temperature, whether I used shampoo, knowing when to cook meals because my body just doesn't sense stimuli correctly. As in, temperature all feels the same, I can't sense hunger, and my cognition drifts in and out. Wouldn't be cool if there was a way to alert the human sensors correctly for people like me?
Yeah! I think in the same way! It could help millions of people!
