Spiritual truth: Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out. Proverbs 10:9
The Book of Proverbs as a sapiential book of the Old Testament insistently repeats the teaching of the two mentalities, the two paths, and the two rewards. A teaching that was also continued by Jesus while he preached in the world when he spoke about the doctrine of the Kingdom of God, the dominion or empire of God's perfections, just as the blessing of wisdom is opposed to foolishness, the spirit is opposed to the flesh.
And this has important practical consequences in the daily life because those who follow the path of righteousness, the path taught by the wisdom of God, walk safely, without fear; like the sun that rises in the morning, so is the path of the upright.
But on the other hand, those who follow the path of falsehood and sin follow a tortuous and difficult path, because due to concealment strategies, destructive unforeseen events do not take long to arrive. Whoever sins, in essence, what he does is hand over his destiny to fate.
The Book of Proverbs summarizes this spiritual truth with a very simple teaching to remember and not forget: "Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out" Proverbs 10:9.
No one is beyond good and evil, no one is beyond the ethical laws that govern the universe, the Book of Proverbs reminds its readers. It is true as in the case of many fools, such as Solomon's son, King Jeroboam, who caused the division between the kingdom of Judah and Israel, that men seek to avoid the consequences of these laws; but this is not possible, life and death are before the reason of man.
The teachers of wisdom of the Old Testament, such as Solomon and Ben Sira, sought to teach man the most virtuous and excellent path, but in contrast to this fact, exists the freedom to choose. Each man by his thoughts, words, and works is responsible for what he is.
