Instagram As A Teaching Tool?

The development of modern technology has made teaching process much more convenient for educators. Now Internet gives access to students to have an online class where it allows students to interact with their teacher through platform such as Google Classroom, Frog VLE, and Schoology. There has been a discuss that Instagram should be taken as a teaching tool. As much to everyone's knowledge, Instagram is a social media app with over millions users all across the world where it allows its users to share photo, online chatting, etc. But used as teaching tool? Really?

Researchers have regarded Instagram as a perfect tool to support learning English. Logically wise, one of the main cause as to why some students struggled in learning English is whether they are unmotivated to study the subject itself or the problem lies within the teachers themselves for not using an effective teaching method in their class. Researchers believed that Instagram can promote to students learning ability in the four major skills; reading, speaking, listening, writing, and listening through activities that can be done using the social media app.

This method of teaching can definitely be applied by teachers as to practice the concept of 21st century, while at the same time, enhancing students and teachers' skill in ICT itself. Using Instagram allows students to generate ideas with contextually-relevant content and offers them a learning experience that they enjoy. It can be concluded that Instagram give beneficial effect in improving students' language skill.
