 God’s Word Today:

Job 1: 21 NCV

He said: “I was naked when I was born, and I will be naked when I die. The Lord gave these things to me, and he has taken them away. Praise the name of the Lord.”

 Thoughts to Ponder:

It took years for Job to receive all of those multiple blessings in his life. But it only took less than a day for him to lose all.

Bowing down in worship while still in tremendous anguish he uttered words of praise mentioned in our text today.

This would likely be one of the oddest reactions you’ll ever find in history.

How could a man who lost everything bow down in worship?

How can someone be able to acknowledge God in a time when he should put more emphasis to his feelings?

It is because Job knew that what’s happening is bigger than his feelings. It is far beyond his comprehension, but just the same he gave praise.

Job knew by his actions people will know that there are greater things than what we have in this life.

To realize this and lift our hearts in praise during sorrow will shine the spotlight back to our Creator, Provider and Savior.

Dear Father,

We lift our hearts in praise even as we go through life’s bitter path.

Thank you for Job’s praise!

It helps us accept that all things in this world is temporary. But in You alone we can be assured of things that are eternal beyond what this world can offer.

Praises be to Your name!
