VESSELS
Let's talk about vessels...
I have found it difficult to define the word" Vessel" because it cut across various disciplines and varies in function depending on where and how its been used in a statement or field of study. For the course of this write-up, i will still cling on a definition which says "a container of any size or shape that has the capacity to carry or withhold something (material or nonmaterial) inside of itself.
So,like a blood vessel naturally programmed to "carry" blood throughout the body and like the ship vessel that conveys containers across the sea to distant location.
Having known this, it is imperative to say that vessels varies in size, shapes and designs; it also have various function for which it was designed. In other words a ship vessel may be large enough to carry goods worth 100tonnes and another ship vessel still large enough to carry a maximum of 40tonnes of goods.
Why am I saying all this?
2 Timothy 2:20 says...
But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
Many a times we are taught that the vessels namely: wood and of earth(clay) are unto dishonor while the other are unto honor. But its not true, praise God.
What determines the beauty and criteria to be a vessel unto honor is not physical endowment but the extent at which it can perform it's purpose/function. A ship vessel is of no profit if doesn't serve the purpose it was built for. So a clay vessel knowing what it was meant for, is more honorable than an empty golden vessel. A golden ornament can't be used to make delicacies and a clay pot can't be placed on a center table.

Conclusively, my emphasis remains that regardless of the nature or physical appearance of a vessel, it's capacity to operate within its designated jurisdiction gives it relevance (honor). The moment a vessel doesn't meet that requirement whether it's the most beautiful of all it is unto dishonor.
