I guess some if not all have already read this story but I can read this all over again as this is one of my favorite which always gives me a goose bump.

A Full Glass of Milk

A poor boy used to sell goods door to door in order to pay for his education. And one day while selling he felt very hungry and he don't have any money to buy food. Because he can't really bare the empty stomach he decided to knocked the door on the next house to asked for small food he can eat.

A beautiful young woman open the door, the boy felt shy and lost his nerve. So embarrassed to asked for food, so he asked for water to drink instead. The young woman bring him a glass of milk, and the boy drink it greedily.

After drinking the milk the boy asked how much he owned, and the young woman simply smile and said, "my mother taught me to be kind to others, and never expect anything in return". The young boy left the woman's house with full stomach and with new strength to pursue his ambition and to continue his study by working hard to fulfill it. Just the time he wanted to quit the woman have firmly established a strong faith and courage inside of him.

Years later, in a big city, a renowned Dr. Howard Kelly was being called to consult on a woman who is suffering from a rare disease. When a woman told him the name of a small town where she lived, Dr. Kelly felt a faint memory arise in his mind. Then, suddenly a recognition emerged on him. She was the woman who give him a glass of milk many years ago.
The doctor went on and made sure to provide the woman with the best care and looking to it that she received a good attention. The truth is it was his special skills as a doctor who saves the woman's life.

After the long hospitalization finally the woman is ready to discharge home. But because of long hospital stay and serious illness she was worried it will take years to settle her hospital bills. For it grow a very considerable amount. But surprisingly when she got the bill it was already fully paid by Dr. Kelly himself. And wrote a small letter for her.

The note clearly express: Paid in full with a glass of milk.

The last lined always made me cry. You really never know what, when, where and how unexpected events in our life occurred. It is always good to show kindness and never expect anything in return for we doesn't know we also need that kindness someday. It better to give and not only to take and take.
