RE: Rooftop Garden in Tel-aviv unites Refugees and Locals - A story of Hope

in #inspiration7 years ago

I love this post and the cause is something I am very passionate about. There are actually studies that show that creating community gardens decreases the crime rate in neighborhoods and brings communities together. I also am a strong believer in teaching people everywhere ow to grow their own food and become as independent from our corrupt systems as possible. This is especially important in poor communities and teaching people in poverty stricken urban areas how to grow food in windows, roof top gardens and empty lots can mean a major boost in like quality. Thank you for this excellent post.

Thank you very much @tygertyger.

Interesting fact about the crime rate...I didnt know that, but now that you mention it, it does make absolute sense.
It almost like those gardens create a value for the neighborhoods way beyond what they actually worth, it provides a value of community, of neighborliness and as a result -> a more peaceful neighborhoods with less crime!

And that just that basic impact, on top of this they get to learn practical tools and skills, they get to grow their food and the most important part everybody get to feel part of something, a certain ownership of something unique...and that really helps taking care of the whole thing, organizing volunteers etc...

Thanks for taking the time to comment, I appreciate it.
