The Kohima Epitaph
This famous epitaph is found on numerous Veteran Memorials and Monuments throughout the world. It is also found on many internet websites for veterans ranging from India, Australia, UK, United States and very likely on non-English veteran websites as well.
THE KOHIMA EPITAPH is credited for the origin of the verse, in nearly all instances.
The verse is believed to have been inspired by the Greek lyric poet Simonides of Ceos (556-468 BC) who wrote after the Battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC:
"Go tell the Spartans, thou that passest by, That faithful to their precepts here we lie."

Awesome, sometimes we forget the one who gave his life for us.
Indeed. We, all of us, stand on the shoulders of giants of time past.
Sadly we forget that, for an example the old people who raised the men and women of today are left behind as useless things. They are too giants, soldiers who gave their lives, health (mental and physical), people who fight for us in other areas, are usually forgotten.
