A Year of Quotes: Day 16
Those convinced against their will are of the same opinion still. Dale Carnegie.
This is a lesson in human relations.
You can't scream or shout someone into accepting your opinion, no matter how true or correct it is. This is why arguments are so useless: both sides argue but none accepts. Neither can one be beaten into accepting something he or she doesn't believe. History teaches this clearly, wherever religion or movements were persecuted by physical confrontations and killing, the teachings merely moved underground instead and kept on spreading.
Keep away from arguments: They do no good. Your opinion must be presented in such a way that the other person wants to listen. If he/she doesn't, it's not on them. It's on you for not presenting it well enough. And in all, remember that the other is probably as sure of his/her opinion as you are of yours, which means you also should listen. You might just be the one in error.
