The way to get started is to quit talking and start doing
The easiest thing a person can do is talk. While talking about your goals, it is extremely easy to list 100 things that you will do in future and how would do them. But the true test of your resolve comes when it’s time to execute your ideas. You see, when you say you “will” do something, the action is perpetually in the future. You can safely park your ideas in that future carpark because you know that there are no charges for doing so. As the saying goes “talk is cheap”. But when it comes down to it, if you have not taken any steps towards actualising that reality, all you have done is blow smoke.

Starting is the first step towards achieving anything. It is also the hardest. I encourage you to take a starting step, no matter how difficult or how unprepared you think you are. Do not get stuck in the idea loop or the perpetual planning for the future loop. Instead, execute the little plan that you have put together so far. You need to execute, you need to take that first step no matter the consequences. Even if your first step leads you to failure, do not fret. Do you know what you have gained? You have gained knowledge, you have added to your list of lessons learned. You now know what you should not do when you attempt to take the next first step.
Another common occurrence with failure is the refusal to try again. This has a direct link to the inability to take the first step. Someone might say “I tried that but it doesn’t work so I would not try again”. In saying that, you are still heading for that cheap carpark. Why not take another first step and see how far you will go this time.
