Sometimes we have moments, days or even weeks where it seems like life is just not on our side.
It can be emotionally and mentally challenging but, it is these times when we are experiencing the most positive change.
Let me tell you what’s going on.
We exist as a mobile, biological packets of information. We have beliefs about ourselves and the world around us. These beliefs help us navigate through life and effectively make decisions. As we grow, we often find that certain ideas no longer serve us. In order to continue to growing we must change these ideas and make room for newer, more expansive ones… this is where things start to get interesting.
One way to effectively change old beliefs is to consciously experience their lack of validity.
For example. Say you wanted to get rid of a belief that no longer served you. While you are changing the belief you may experience external stimuli that seem to validate the belief. Just because something external points to this, does not mean the belief is valid. What’s actually happening is that you are being given opportunities to disagree with and let go of the belief. While experiencing these events, if you can maintain the conviction of your new belief, the old belief will lose strength and the new belief will take its place! It’s kind of like lifting weights for your mind. The greater the discrepancy between the internal and external states, the more of the original belief will be removed.
Now you know what to do the next time you discover an unhealthy belief! As you practice this technique you will start to drop all of your unhealthy beliefs and adopt newer, more expansive ones.
Keep on striving, keep on growing!
