Good morning, afternoon, and night for wherever you are reading this now.
Since I’m still a freshman at my university, it is mandatory to stay in the campus as in the dormitory. So I’ll discuss some tips for you who are living a dormitory life, make things easier with these tips!
The number one and most important tip is to get organized, well I’m talking about “dorm lyfe”. By this I mean, it could be something small, maybe as simple as put things back where it belong, or throw some unused stuff away, do a little clean up.
Thousands hacks, tips and tricks won’t help you if you don’t commit to the first tip.
Anyhow here are some tips to make your dorm life easier.
1. Stop struggling with cords
If you’re living with more than 2 roommates, unplugging cords could be difficult. You could unplug your roommates cord by mistake. So don’t throw those bread tabs away. Its okay if they don’t want to name theirs, you just got to spot yours anyway.
Or if you have your own extension, you can make your own cord station. Place them in an unused shoe box and give it a little decoration, keep them in place and out of the way. Plus they look cute!
2. Fold your clothes sideways
Living in a dormitory, we usually have a limited space, especially with drawers. If you have a small drawers like this one, fold it sideways so you would have more space for more clothes. Girls, take a note!
3. Create cascading hangers using soda caps
Get more space in your closet by using soda caps, this is so practical especially if you have small space. So don’t throw those tabs away!
4. Use plastic shoe storage to store your snacks
At night studying could make you hungry for snacks, isn’t it sucks to crave for snacks but you forgot where you put them? Or you just found out you run out of your favorite snacks? Say no more. Use some cheap plastic shoe storage you could get in a dollar store. And store your snack there, hang them somewhere visible for you. Also you can know right away when you run out of something.
5. Use decorative tape to decorate plain walls
Well this one isn’t really a tips, rather a simple idea to decorate your room with a small budget. If you have some photos or posters laying around, put them up and create a 2D frame with some decorative tapes. Get those plain walls some decorations.
6. Lastly some list to help you pack
Here are some list to help you pack for whenever you’re relocating. When I was in high school I always forgot something whenever my school relocate my room, so I had to get back to my old room to get it. Unfortunately I finished high school before I found this list. But turns out I got another year living in a dormitory in college!
Those are some tips for you who are living a dormitory life. You still can try them if you don’t live in a dormitory tho.
