DON'T FALL INTO THE MISTAKE OF BEING INFLUENCED INTO PICKING A JOB
Hello guys. This is Hermann and today I will like to share a little something on a mistake many young people out there make when it comes to picking a job especially young youths. I know this because I have been there and there is nothing much worse when you know you chose the wrong Job.
I will focus more on the youths like myself because I understand what they think and go through when it comes to this issue of picking a job and pursuing a career.
First of all, here in my local community, most young ones have brilliant dreams of what they intend to pursue in future. Some dream to become doctors, Engineers, Journalists, Surgeons, Government officials etc. These are all very good aspirations but many of them grow up to face the bitter truth of life and soon these aspirations become a thing of the past. I grew up in an environment where many young ones are pressurized to go into lines of work that is far from what they love and the reason being that we live in an environment where you pick a Job that will guarantee your employment and survival in the future. Your dreams have very little to say when it comes to picking a Job. About 78% of youths like myself find themselves in Jobs that they are not passionate about or even love one bit.
What a misery it is and a big problem it is to my fellow youths and compatriots, when we sit and can only hope that one day we will be independent enough to make our own decisions and maybe get a second chance to reconnect with our passions and dream careers.
I believe the first motivating factor in picking any Job is your passion, affection and love for that particular Job and when this is absent, you end up so dissatisfied and miserable. Even if it pays a lot, once the love for the Job is not there, when you don't even enjoy what you do then happiness will only be an imagination. It is such a terrible feeling that I can only compare with the feeling you get when you maybe realized you married the wrong person because here we have a saying that " your second spouse is your Job."
It is quite so sad and hurtful when I sit down with friends and my fellow mates and in about 20 you can hardly find 3 that will publicly attest that they love their line of study or work. It is so sad and pitiful sight when you look at them struggling so much with no recompense of happiness and joy in what they do.
We can barely blame our parents and sponsors who push on into what they think best but we can only blame the nature of our environment that does not motivate the young to dream, that shuts and kills dreams of the young out there, that fail to recognize the deserving. How can we blame our sponsors and parents when all they are doing is looking out for survival in the future. I see young talented youths out there who can really contribute so much to our world if they can be allowed to pursue their dreams and improve on their talents but unfortunately these talents are wasted and suppressed.
I am trying so hard to address this issue and bring it to the table of our leaders, parents, sponsors to see what is happening to our youths and young ones. The very people who are supposed to lead tomorrow; their opinions hardly count and our future is handwritten for us. I want to be the voice that will stand and cry out there for my fellow youths because they are hurting at the sight of their dreams being destroyed and our government can even barely see that or perhaps don't even care.
We have been forced to forget the very values that guide our selection of a Job or career. We find ourselves struggling for survival instead of living the dream.
Well, we can't continue to live like this, we have to make our voices heard and something done about it. And to my fellow youths I will only have to encourage all to stand firm in pursuing their dreams. Nobody should call the final shots when it comes to your future because your happiness, success and fulfillment in this life depends on it.
So you know what, if you love something go for it and make sure you grab it.
