Through his experience, Dan Lok revealed that financially what holds most people back is not their family, government systems but their ego.
Dan has listed 13 of them. And today am going to share with you a quick summary of these egos that he mentioned as the ones that holds most people back.
1. The blame EGO
People with blame ego tend to blame others for their failure, for their situations. Ooh its the government system, my parents are responsible of me being broke, they should have saved for my future.
In that situation that you're blaming others, same people with alike situations chose to grow instead of blaming and they succeeded, so no one is responsible for your failure but YOU.
"Lame people blame people"
2. The know it all EGO
These people think they know it all, they can't get advices or read books because they think they know how things are done. When you think know it all, you keep doing same things and repeating same mistakes and that keep holding you back.
3. The fearful EGO
Most broke people have fear of failure. What if I make mistakes, what if it doesn't work, what if, what if.
Lok said that fear is just an acronym that means;
F alse
E vidence
A ppearing
R eal
4. The comfort zone EGO
I am comfort with what I have, I am happy where I am. When you're in your comfort zone, you are not growing and when you're not growing you're dying. This holds most people back.
5. The judgemental EGO
When you see rich people in their suits, driving their expensive cars, walking on red carpets what comes in your mind? Most people with judgemental ego will say "it's not their money it's their parent's money, who he think he is, he is just an asshole.... and If she is a girl they say that's a slay queen, a gold digger.
But how do you know? How do you know that they are not hardworking people? You're projecting your own insecurities to other people.
How will you become rich if that's the image you have for rich people?
6. The excuses EGO
You see you can make money or you can make excuses but you can't do both.
Excuse is a nothing more than a well planned lie.
I cannot afford it, I don't have money, that's too difficult, I don't have enough experience.
It's always I can't or I don't know how. You can have millions of excuses but to do something, you need only one good reason.
7. The pleasing EGO
I wanna make everybody happy.
You always want to put other people at first, nothing is wrong with that but sometimes you have to put yourself at first.
Imagine if you're in an airplane will you put an oxygen mask on somebody else before yourself? Of course no, so to choose yourself first is not selfishness but self love.
8. The justification EGO
You always justify why you can't do it.
I am too young, I am too old, I am a student, I am an immigrant, I am..., I am.
Don't use your situation as an excuse rather use that as a MOTIVATION.
9. The jealous EGO
Ooh rich people are selfish, they are cruel, they are not human,...
Don't criticize what you have not done or what you're not even capable of.
10. The fake EGO
Do you know yourself or you change depending on where or who you're with? Do you try to imitate other people?
Be yourself everyone else is taken.
I can choose to be hated for who I am than being loved for who I fake to be.
11. The shy EGO
Ooh, I am shy, I am not good with people, I am an introvert, and you use that as an excuse to remain where you're.
Yeah it's normal to be an introvert but don't use your personality as an excuse to hold you back, you have to overcome your shyness.
12. The other people's opinions EGO
You worry a lot about what people think of you? Do you worry how other people perceive you?
You wanna do something but you start thinking what will other people think of you, even though you know it's the right thing to do?
Never let other people's opinions stop you from doing what you know is right.
Those people could be your family, colleagues, teachers, friends but that doesn't matter.
13. The Do it yourself EGO
They can't do it as good as I can. I have to do it myself. I don't trust them. Nothing great is accomplished by one person, it requires other people, it requires team work.
How many egos you find you have? If you say none, I think that's the worst kind of ego that I have never seen.
It becomes easier to find a remedy when you know the disease. Find a remedy for your egos.
