Perusing Steem this morning has been bringing up some fond childhood memories! Love the nostalgia that board games always bring about, but even more so the fact that we all do indeed have our own variations of the "rules". Though I always think of card games with that in particular because that is what my maternal grandmother love to play. There wasn't a Sunday that passed by for years without playing 500 Rummy, with her rules of course. Anyone accusing her of cheating and we'd all chime in, "Not my Mom Mom!" 😊 And thank you for the reminder that sometimes we all need to take time out to play!
Haha I love it! This brought back all the times I played cards with my paternal Grandma! What kind of rules did she have? We play a lot of 500 Rummy!
Oh nice! One of her pet peeves was no "floating". So you had to have a card to discard when you went out. That and if you picked up cards from the discard pile you had to use it that turn. I'm not sure if that one is a general rule or just hers. It's rare that I've played with anyone outside our family, haha! I don't think we've played much since she passed 3 years ago, but we might have to break out a deck this holiday season so we don't get rusty. :)
Nice! We play that you can't win without a discard so you can "go out" but not win. Is that the same? And yeah, I think the discard pile is a general rule. You should definitely play this holiday season!
Haha, sounds about the same! My niece is 3, so hopefully at some point we'll get her in on the family tradition to keep the fun going for another generation. :)
Absolutely!
