Okoye, the general of the Dora Milaje and the head of Wakanda's armed forces and intel, played by the amazing Danai Gurira in Marvel’s Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War.

The tools: Copic markers, Staedler pigment liner, Zebra ballpoint, and Gelly Roll white gel pen on Strathmore 4”x 6” heavyweight mixed media board.

First up, find my photo reference and run it under the Drawing Grid app on my iPad

Then I make my own grid on the paper:

Initial pencils, light detail:

Lay in some light pen work, erase grid lines:

Start with the shading, lighter tones first:

Adding a little color, and rendering the features more:

A little more:

Start work on the costume:
