My First 3 Drawings for OCD and CreativeCoin #Inktober 2019 Event
Greetings, dear Steemians
It's been a while since I last posted a drawing or any artwork, but I'm going to give it a try to this contest that will hopefully motivate me to retake drawing with more discipline. I hope you enjoy the work.
I used ball pens (blue and red). So far, the prompts have motivated drawing that have a rather dark meaning; there is some local political implications in some of them. However, I hope you can appreciate them beyond one intended meaning.
Day 1
Prompt: Ring
After The Lord of the Ring this word has a very conflicting meaning for me.
I associate rings with enclosed spaces, cycles, routines, and traps.
Some rings, like the "security rings" around corrupt politicians and celebrities, seem to be as problematic as the rings around organized crime. Once you're in, there is no easy way out.
Thus, this image of a very painful ring to wear came to my mind.
Day 2
Prompt: Mindless
This word made me think about brainlessness or emptyheadedness, and those are terms I associate with ideological fanaticism.
Whether it comes from left, center, or right, I think that any blind affiliation to an ideology seriously hinders people's ability to see reality in its balanced proportion and speak their minds.
Mindlessness destroyed my country, it is making change more difficult than it should, and it is menancingly expanding.
Day 3
Prompt: Bait
Again, I was hooked with the political implications of each word, and this was was just too obvious.
In Venezuela, populist policies have not only made impossible for people to come out of poverty, it has multiplied the poor. Cheap food supplies have been used as bait for political manipulation.
You're a multi talented man. Nice use of symbolism. I hope the world watches and learns from what's happening there in Venezuela.
Thank you very much, @kenny-crane. One might think our disaster has provided enough examples of what should not be done, and yet...
These are great. I wish you a happy Inktober. It's a very cool contest. Mindless is very interesting, a human who can hear but not say. If a word is not uttered, was it ever thought?
Thought, maybe; but if it is not uttered, it would rarely lead to a good deed. We se it in those ex-government officials who remained silent while injustices and corruption ran rampant. Years later, they want to wash their reputation and start speaking as if they were alien to the problems, as opposed to part of the problem.
"Funny" thing is most people have no historical memory and are more than willing to ignore past records. No crime, no criminal.
Well said. I wonder where we are going, I do.
