RE: 5G and the ultimate "army in the middle" angst...

in #infosec5 years ago

Hi @doifeellucky

Well, my point of view as a user of such a backward technology as in Venezuela, anything above 3G is good.
Currently, to browse the internet from my home, I have to do it with the data provided by the service provided by the cell phone. That means that it is expensive and in Venezuela we are still very late, in that sense although it is true that many service operators offer 4G service that does not work very well and many times I only have 3G to make this comment, the first thing I did was see my connection from the cell phone and I saw that I was browsing with 3G.

That's why I said any connection above 3G is very good.

I hope that one day that type of 5G connection will arrive in Venezuela.

However I can tell you the communist criminals of the Venezuelan government, currently just to make war on the United States are doing business with Huawei for this company buy the national telephone company.

Hello @lanzjoseg!

Thanks for your comment! I hear you! If even the basic infrastructure is missing right now in Venezuela that's a problem on a whole other level!

Imho every country that let's 5G by Huawei happen must have a higher risk appetite/risk tolerance or does not care at all in the first place so much seems to be sure.

On the other hand much of the stuff we are fed with is propaganda. So, maybe it's just part of the ongoing trade war between the US and China that they target Huawei.

Technical it seems absolutely feasible to be concerned about privacy/intelligence tainted 5G infrastructure.

Cheers!
