No Choice

in #informationwar5 years ago

I believe that America is still the most influential country in the world. China and other far eastern countries might have made big strides in equaling the playing field in purely economic terms, but in my perception it's still the Americans that put a stamp on the economies, as well as the cultures and politics of the world's many nations.

This is why America is of so much interest to so many citizens of the world, especially the western world. The first settlers came from Europe and their colonies, and for most of its history the country was welcoming to immigrants from all over the world; this also is part of the reason why America, Uncle Sam and the Statue of Liberty have become icons representing freedom and human progress for all the world's peoples. Never mind that America has in fact taken over the throne of the western empire from England, the previous leader of the empire on which the sun never sets, and that it was a continuation of western imperialism with a slightly friendlier face.

But the fact is that American politics are most influential when it comes to international economical and political relationships, and thus helps shape national policies of countries all over the world. This is why I'm so interested in what's happening in the elections for the next Democratic presidential candidate, and why I so often return to the topic of Bernie Sanders in my posts lately. But you know that already I believe, dear reader; for working class Americans there's simply no other choice than to vote for Bernie, as I believe that a vote for any of the other candidates would be a vote against their own interests. But also, if you're concerned, as you should be, with America's foreign policy, its endless wars against whatever enemy they conjure up next, its policies of sanctions, tariffs and intimidation, there's no choice.

Everything Bernie Sanders Said During the Democratic Debate in Atlanta | NBC New York

As far as I'm able to observe, Sanders has been the only candidate who speaks truth about America's foreign policies, at least within the margins that are accepted in public discourse, dangerously close to the limit of what's allowed in mainstream media's discourse. For example, he's the only one who stood up for the Palestinians, calling for part of the billions of dollars of aid to Israel to be redirected toward humanitarian aid for the inhabitants of the open air prison of Gaza. He's also the only one I've heard clearly stating that the situation in Bolivia is an anti democratic coupe. Sanders got an endorsement from Brazil's recently released political prisoner Lula. I can go on, but it should be clear right now that Bernie will fight for working class people period. No matter where they are or where they come from.

Seeing, from many polls, that the progressive left in America is still in doubt between Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren, it's good I believe to point out Bernie's record on foreign policy and Warren's lack thereof; there is no real choice here, unless you're okay with the way things are now. Here's a TYT report that clearly illustrates the grand difference between the two. I can't stress enough how much it matters to the entire planet's population who's chosen to run against Trump in 2020. Bernie is now leading in many polls, and keep in mind that polls aren't always right, far from it, but there's this remarkable difference that comes up in so many of them that's worth pointing out. Voters of the ages 50 and up poll largely in favor of Joe Biden, while younger voters strongly favor Sanders and Warren; I take this as a sign of the power wielded by cable news networks, the mainstream media. Younger voters don'w watch TV for their news but go online, which is why the anti-establishment candidates, Sanders, Warren, Yang and, to a lesser extent, Tulsi Gabbard, are popular among younger voters. Older people, who get their news from TV, go for the establishment candidates like Biden, Buttigieg and Klobuchar...
