Dear Americans, You're Not Alone

in #informationwar6 years ago

Today I feel the need to clarify something for my readers who live in the United States of America, or identify themselves as American. I'll preface this with some remarks I heard in a news-report on Venezuela.

"When I found out they were the number one oil reserve in the world, I just KNEW we had to bring them democracy!" Pretty accurate description of U.S. foreign policy, right there. Or take this one; "I'll tell you what the definition of a dictator is: it's a leader of a country that won't let American corporations dictate their policy." Again, pretty accurate when keeping in mind how corporations pay for politicians to further their ever growing need for more money and power. We are of course talking about America's plans for Venezuela; "We have to liberate the Venezuelan people from dictator Maduro and bring them true democracy..."

Let me today address my American brothers and sisters; critique leveled at blatant American imperialism is in no way meant to be taken personally, as you're as much victim of "the best democracy money can buy" as the rest of the world. Most of you, who have lost faith in the mainstream media ever again telling the truth already know that both Democrats and Republicans are two wings from the same party; the corporate party. This explains why Nancy Pelosi is able to simultaneously condemn Trump for being a crazy women's ass grabbing inconsiderate foul-mouth pig (not in those words exactly), and stand right beside him when he's planning regime change in Venezuela. "Impeach!! Oh, wait let's secure a puppet regime for the world's largest oil reserve first. And after that: impeach!" It would be funny if it weren't so tragic.

Also, don't feel like you're standing alone in this weird twilight zone of multiple parties wearing different masks, hiding identical faces; in almost all "modern western democracies" the same thing has been happening. All western governments have fallen for their corporate masters. The simple fact that wages haven't kept pace with economic growth, not even close, literally everywhere, should be all you need to know. Or ask yourself this: when was the last time any party has come into power on a program of increasing taxes for businesses or the rich? In which western democracy have the people not been told that what's best for the rich is what's best for the economy, and therefore is what's best for the people?

On the polarization front we're all in the same boat too: the ever increasing economic segregation of western peoples, courtesy of the ever growing gaps between poor, middle class and rich, and even the ultimate elimination of an effective middle class, has given populists the ammunition they need to translate this, to transform the resulting feeling of being betrayed, of being lied to, into a segregation between immigrants and so-called indigenous people. Also the manufactured "war against terrorism" and subsequent marginalization of Muslims, is grabbed by both hands of western populists everywhere.

So, when I talk about blatant American lies to justify their next conquest, it's not you I'm talking about; my government supports your government, no matter if that's led by Obama or Trump. Speaking of Obama; it was under his presidency that the economic sanctions against Venezuela started, all Trump did was turn up the heat a notch. And like I said: the most prominent Democrats support him all the way when it suits the needs of their corporate masters. Here in the Netherlands we have a president, but the actual, official head of state here is royalty; we have a king now after several generations of queens. They own a hefty chunk of Royal Dutch Shell, the global Anglo-Dutch oil company. I haven't followed it for a while now, but I know that the former Queen of The Netherlands attended the Bilderberg conference as representative of said oil company, and not as our queen; this just to stress that you're not alone, that your failing democracy is the result of the same economic powers prevailing over political powers everywhere.

Maybe I'm stretching here. Maybe all this is not at all necessary. You're all intelligent people, so I'm probably preaching to the choir here, but still I felt the need to say all this. Reason why, is that, as the world's largest economic and military power, your country (not you people) attracts the lion's share of all the complaints about corporate power. As the world's most advanced free market economy, and the world's most exemplary democracy, you have been forced to act as, or at least be perceived as some sort of role-model for the rest of the world to follow. Maybe that's why seeing your democracy fail so miserably, actually feels very close to home.

And especially someone like myself, who so often uses your beautiful country as the example when talking about the dangers and shortcomings of a profit based economy, should always be aware of this, and maybe make a better distinction between America and regular Americans when writing about this stuff. It was a news item about U.S. foreign policy regarding Venezuela, and the reporting on it in the mainstream, that got me thinking about this, more specifically the reporter's remarks I started this article with; it suddenly sprang to my mind that it's the same here. And in France. And in England, Germany, Italy, all western Europe; we all live in Mac World, me in The Netherlands Ltd., and my American brothers and sisters in America Inc. Here's the report that got my mind racing today, I recommend it to all who care about corporate world domination, wherever you live:
