Did Hollywood Culture Appropriators Falsely Claim that the Non-Binary Duo Bert and Ernie are Gay?

The NNBPA (National Non-Binary Puppet Alliance) is up in arms against Hollywood's latest claims. Lawsuits are being filed and LGBTQ puppets are quitting en masse over what seemed at first glance, a simple misgendering. However, upon digging deeper some have learned that the so-called outing of Bert and Ernie is nothing more than a publicity stunt geared towards boosting ratings among rainbow puppets.

Bert and Ernie themselves have said that they "never once volunteered their gender or sexual preferences on their respective job applications" and were it not for the recent discovery of hidden cameras on public grounds at 321 Sesame Street no speculations would have been made about their sexuality.

In a joint statement the famous non-binary couple claim the video clips in question were edited and taken out of context. We here at Puppet Magazine leave that for the reader to decide. Should Bert and Ernie get less social points for the recent claims that they are gay -or- should they continue to receive the maximum allotted points for being non-white non-binaries? Inquiring minds want to know!
