It's official, the Venezuelan Government will no longer accept U.S. dollars for trade or payment on all oil exports. Maduro a year ago said Venezuela would accept other currencies for oil trades. Now it will no longer be possible to do any oil trades at all with Venezuela in U.S. Dollars period. This comes from the President of Venezuela a month before Venezuela is to release a new asset backed crypto currency,"The Petro".

A quote from Venezuela's President Maduro in his own words,"Venezuela is going to implement a new system of international payments and will create a basket of currencies to free us from the dollar,If they pursue us with the dollar, we’ll use the Russian ruble, the yuan, yen, the Indian rupee, the euro," Maduro declared last year they would start accepting other currencies for oil trade, and now a year later Maduro joins the bold ranks of Muammar Gaddafi, and Sadam Hussein.

There has been a lot of discussion by President Trump, and V.P. Mike Pence on taking military action against Maduro for over a year. The pretext for an attack on Venezuela is the very familiar "Bringing Democracy" routine. Every invasion by the U.S. Military in the 21st Century has been done in the name of "Bringing Democracy". You can ask the people of Iraq and Libya how Democracy is working for them. Both countries have been reduced to Hell on Earth.

The Venezuelan Government has been relying on loand from China for financial stability ,and China has a strong presence in investing in South America. That may also be another unspoken reason for the U.S.Military to flex on Venezuela as a hedge on China's South American influence.

With Columbia being on Venezuela's northern border and the first Latin American member of NATO. The U.S. Military would have a easy time of Using Columbia as a base of attack on Venezuela. With peace likely in North Korea, and Americans weary of any new conflict in the middle East, could it be that the military industrial complex is looking for a new playground to generate trillions of dollars in new revenue?

Venezuela Drops US Dollar

Gaddafi gold-for-oil, dollar-doom plans behind Libya 'mission'?

Great post @natepower!
The pattern is plain as day, if you try to free yourself from the petro-dollar you will face the military arm of empire. Venezuela is a prize for the military industrial complex and of course for the oil barrens who stand to profit the most... or is it democracy and the freedom of the Venezuelan people?

It does appear that the US is presently over-reaching with their multiple wars and, imo, is behaving like an empire in decline (decay). The BRICS nations are slowly making their moves away from the petro-dollar with the yuan. Collapse might be closer than we imagine and will be a rude awakening for many and could be a terrifying reality in the US. Chinese capitalism as the world's leading super-power is also a frightening possibility.

Resteemed :)

Thanks Vapid, I was surprised to find out that Columbia is now a NATO member, I can't imagine they wouldn't pull a false flag in the Columbian border, and drop the hammer on Maduro, I'm thinking they are saving Venezuela right before the 2020 Elections, Syria is the only country to survive a round of Bringing Democracy, yet the US and NATO are illegally parked in Syrian territory, Russia is the only reason they are still in one peice, if the Fed crashes the Economy this maybe their diversion, I hope to God they leave South America alone!

I must admit I googled Columbia, I was sure you were mistaken... how can this be true? This only shows what a joke NATO has become, totally doing the US bidding. I think this trend started with the war on Serbia, which the world has forgotten.
Anyway, great post! I am surprised how many people in the West buy into the communist menace propaganda. Communism has been dead for a while now, China and Russia supporting the regime in Venezuela has nothing to do with ideology. It's all about economy and strategic interests.

I hope to God they leave South America alone!

I'm pretty sure you are well aware of the US involvement in South America during the Cold War. The many dictators supported by Washington in the region are proof of that.

Well, if China and Russia are supporting the Venezuelan economy, I would hate to see what it would be like if they weren't. It's hard to imagine worse than 1.4 million percent inflation.

You guys are all forgetting about the Petro cryptocurrency that is supposed to be tied to Venezuelan oil, that rumor has it is actually a Russian plot all along. One that all crypto enthusiasts should really be embracing as it provides a ridiculous amount of liquidity and a potential stable price tether

I'm not going to trust it if it is run by the Venezuelan government. Or any government for that matter.

While I understand your sentiment, I'm still hopeful. I'm not heavily invested or anything, but I do pray that this a successful power play for BRICS as It would increase faith in crypto if they are able to pull it off.

It is also worth noting that if Russia is behind it they wont let anybody just step in and start killing people. They've already successfully kept everyone out of Africa in regards to oil. Thats why nobody is intervening in South Africa

I believe the cold war coups pulled off by the CIA in Central and South America is what saved Venezuela and unified the region in terms of not buying into a war for regime change, Columbia joining NATO wasn't a popular move either, I wish I knew what the Venezuelan people's opinion is on what is going on with their Country, I don't trust any news sources for a true opinion about Maduro and for all I know Maduro may have a majority of support, and if so it's none of our business in the U.S., thanks for the comment and reviewing my post LadyBecka😀 I appreciate it!

Revolution

We all have to stick together for peace and for freedom!

Ah, yes... The man who would have started a nuclear war and been content with the millions of casualties so long as it progressed his goals of "socialist liberation". A true hero.

Good post, it is a possibility

I honestly can't believe he is doing this. The balls on this guy. Does he have a death wish? We've already reduced their fiat to rubble, now he begs for 'democracy'?

Anyone who challenges the Petro-Dollar is in for a nasty not-so surprise. This is the kind of thing that could start a World War with America vs Russia and China... probably not though since we can't win that one. Maybe that's the idea.

Does he have a death wish?

I'm sure that can be arranged. Remember that cancer that finished Chavez off?

One word @edicted PETRO, as in the cryptocurrency not the dollar

i would like to say "democrazy" then democracy. Democracy is a "shit" using by us to bring war to any country who doesn't follow their instructions.

Iran also were making the same noises, and both seem to now be in the cross-hairs, be interesting to see how this plays out, as a lot more people now have knowledge about this and how it works.

I doubt the MSM would get away with vilifying either country as easily as they did with Libya and Afghanistan.

The Venezuelan govt may stop but her people will still use the USD. Seems like every law Maduro enacts, the more the people suffer, I have a work college from Venezuela and she says that her family have left the country.

With inflation nearing 1.4 million percent in Venezuela, i'm surprised there isn't more bloodshed already. Their government is destroying their economy. Making it harder for them to sell oil isn't going to help. And no, I don't think the U.S. should get involved militarily and I don't really see why they would bother. I think too much emphasis is being placed on the petro dollar here. That concept has only been around since the 1970s and the U.S. managed ok before then. One way or the other it will go away eventually anyway...with or without BRICS (there's the Triffin Dilemma as well as the pressure to drastically reduce petroleum usage). The strength of the U.S. economy isn't just in the petro dollar.

You're forgetting about the new cryptocurrency that investors already sunk nearly billions into

You mean the one controlled by the Venezuelan government?
