RE: The power of definition/ Die Macht der Definition (DE/ ENG)

in #informationwar6 years ago

Seuz. A word is nothing but a label for a concept we hold in our mind. While we can refer to the concepts that others share using a word that has been commonly defined, the definition should never be primary to the concept itself. The reason is that no two people share the exact same conceptualization of the real-word object. There are always subtle differences and if knowing reality is more important that people perceptions, the identity which consists of the actions and features of an object must be primary rather than it's agreed upon definition. This way, any individual is free to identify and objects features and represent them any way they deem appropriate. They can them make a case as to what an appropriate definition should be within the lexicon. Any individual can represent the core identify an object in their own unique way. All that is required is that they can recognize that object again when they next encounter it. However, if they wish to communicate this idea then they must establish a common definition which differentiates this object from all others within the already established lexicon. This lexicon is only as good as those who control it's compilation and typical lacks the resolution to capture subtle differences in concepts and most importantly, the lexicon is constantly being refined to accommodate newly discovered concepts. To prioritize 'definition' over 'identity' is to prioritize the perception of a thing relative to that which is already known by the observer rather than by what makes a thing unique in reality.

Great comment!

True true!

So better ask always what your communication partner directly mean with the words.

If two spirits have the same frequency they don’t need words to talk :-)

Steemit hugs and thanks for your great feedback my dear
