I believe that people who identify as left value compassion above everything else and people who identify as right value discipline above all else.
I also believe that an excess of either mercy or severity can cause oppression

The original meaning of left wing vs right wing was which side of the king people sat on, one side with the Commons which included merchants working and the poor on the other side sat Nobles or the managers and in the middle the Sovereign who moderates the managers rather than sitting on the right wing or the left wing I would rather sit in the lap of my queen. I'm a Centrist I'm OK with helping poor people and I don't mind people getting rich.
I care about truth and freedom .
My early political influences were a Marxist hippie who participated in the Gastown riots and a supporter of the FMLN and an Anarcho Socialist we all sat through the first Iraq war together that was the first time I learned to look critically at the propaganda that we are fed.
For years I pretty much believed everything Noam Chomsky said
For years I thought that Israel was the oppressor with no moral justification.
Then I came to realize that Israel acted no different than many other countries when faced with secessionist part of the countries or a Rebellion
So I took another look at Israel and what is happening there and I came to some starkly different conclusions.
Up to this point I considered myself a political Taoist. During the election before President Trump got elected I really didn't pay much attention I was pretty sure he would win just because we seem to have alternating right and left leaders in Canada and the US.
But I didn't watch the news I never watched YouTube and I really just didn't care
Then one day I was working with a group of women one a folk singer, the rest old hippies a very left-wing group
Topic of Israel came up and I tried to share my ideas in defence of Israel's case
They immediately labeled me an islamophobe and a trump supporter I pointed out to them that they were trying to label me and dehumanize me so they could ignore my arguments.
About 3 weeks later I read an article in the newspaper about how some University students wanted to invite a white nationalist homophobic misogynist islamophobe to their University to speak to them and I couldn't understand why they would want to do that!
And then I remembered how those ladies had labeled me and tried to dehumanize me so they could ignore my arguments so I looked up this person on YouTube his name is Milo Yiannopoulos I listened to what he had to say I watched his videos and he wasn't a white nationalist and far from being a homophobe he was gay, he didn't speak with hatred of Muslim people but he did criticize the ideology of Islam which I knew was responsible for what the Jewish people had suffered in the Middle East.
Ethnic cleansing throughout the entire area of the Middle East.
So then I started to watch more and more YouTube videos with different people, I like Gavin McCInnes I used to like Vice alot he's funny, I like Sargon of Akkad and Black Pigeon Speaks
What I then found out especially in videos of people protesting Donald Trump was that when faced with real arguments they had no arguments all they had was insults that were stupid and they were violent
Then I came upon Jordan Peterson and he recommended that I read the Gulag Archipelago byAleksandr Solzhenitsyn and I did.
This book made me very angry against Marxism and that made me remember Wilbur Smith's description of the Ethiopian Revolution, a country I didn't even realize was Communist and I remember the starvation that happened there and that caused me to think of the starvation in China and Russia and these days we are seeing starvation in Venezuela, Zimbabwe and soon we'll see starvation in South Africa.
I'm self-educated I have no formal education
I'm a Cromwellian Monarchist
I like Canada and I like her system of governments it works and has worked for 500 years without starvation.
My attitude towards other drivers and politicians is Don't trust those f**kers
Islam means "submission"
I believe in equality before the law I do not believe in downplaying the crimes of groups of people.
Like what we have seen in Britain and Germany where people commit crimes and the crimes are hidden and the criminals protected
I also believe it when people say they want to kill me and mine or rule over us.
Israel
I am half-Jewish. I am not all that religious to begin with, and I'm not a Jew religiously but I did follow the jewish religion of christianity for awhile; the Jews think I'm a goy, the goys think I'm a Jew LOL. I was raised with little to no Jewish influence, I found out what a dradle was from southpark. So lots of diversity in this curation team ;].
When it comes to Israel I don't think the United States was ever an Ally of Israel especially when they installed PLO fatah in the middle of their country. This I consider this worse than installing the Nazis in the middle of the Jewish homeland because the Palestinian leadership was much more successful ethnically cleansing the entire Middle East than the Nazis were at ethnically cleansing Europe.
The Jews have been part of Europe since before long before Europe was even a thing.
Good or bad whatever has happened in Europe the Jews have been part of it maybe Jewish Bankers are bad then so are European and Chinese Bankers and even Scottish Bankers.
When it comes to movements that promise equality the Jews are over-represented because their community suffered two thousand years of the worst apartheid in history and that's just in Europe they also suffered a harsh if somewhat less harsh apartheid in the Islamic world called Dhimmitude.

I have often wondered if people who are half-this/half-that are more open to critical thinking...that maybe people like us aren't fully integrated into one world view, and thus it is easier for us to see multiple views of a subject
Israel and the United States are better allies than most folks think they are (despite 8 years of sabotage by the oblahblah admin); BUT they are still bound to put their own citizens first, and are subject to whichever forces of influence and corruption exist
@openparadigm The Halfer thing kind of forces you to be more open because you can't be fully part of a group.
