Never Underestimate How Much Big Oil Hates Electric Cars

By now you've heard all the stories about how Elon Musk is running Tesla into the ground. Consider that recently there was noise being generated by the mainstream media that Tesla was going to go from a publicly held company to a private one, and combine that with comparisons of Musk to the the much fabled lunacy of Henry Ford and you have yourself a classic #MSM attempted take-down.

From the perspective of an Information Warrior, when you consider the video-clip linked above of the upcoming Jay Leno's Garage on MSNBC, it all seems to fall into place. How much is at stake for Big Oil should Tesla become successful in pulling off what is essentially a coup de t'eat against the most powerful cartel in the world? The answer is almost everything.

With the release of the performance figures of the Tesla Roadster the PR stunt of launching one into space in a Heavy Metal (the animated film), style visual all makes sense now. Elon was telling the world he was about to change it.

Of course there are still naysayers out there who say Electrics are futile. And one of their main criticisms is vehicle range and refueling time. The Tesla Roadster has a range of 600 miles. And while most people will not drive more than that in a day, the recharging time for such a car could easily be done over night. And that does not take into account the huge network of Supercharging Stations that allow your car to recharge in 30 minutes. Granted, this is a lot more time than it takes to pump a tank of full with gasoline. But, the horror stories of being stranded that is portrayed in mainstream media seems to run flat in light of this system.

Of course, hydrogen powered cars are also a technology that several major automobile manufacturers have working models. Toyota even has a model for sale in limited markets where Hydrogen refueling stations exist.

Pictured above, the Toyota Murai is the world's first mass produced hydrogen powered car.

What it will take for hydrogen power to replace oil power would be a complete retooling of infrastructure. Right now, in Houston, there are millions of cubic feet of Hydrogen stored. And with the proper push from the energy companies that now drill for oil, this could become the most common fuel for the world. And ironically, the gasoline powered car you drive today, could easily be retrofitted to run on hydrogen. But, primarily today when we think of hydrogen power, we are discussing hydrogen fuel cell cars that generate an electric current.

Of course the public was warned off hydrogen years ago in a public display of the dangers it's instability. This was done with the Hindenburg Disaster. Several conspiracy theories surround the potential losses the , (then) new airline and established oil industries would take at the hands of successful and publicly accepted lighter-than-air passenger craft. And even today, when you mention hydrogen power, immediately people use the Hindenburg disaster as an example for why it will not work.

A close up of the porous transport layers of a modern hydrogen fuel cell.

But, vast improvements in materials science has allowed porous matrix fuel cells to advance safety levels of transporting hydrogen. In fact, safety levels of porous hydrogen fuel cells are as safe as or exceed that of gasoline tanks. This technology has been with us since 1992. The porous material releases the hydrogen so slowly, that breaching one of these modern porous matrix hydrogen fuel cells with an axe yields surprising results. The hydrogen takes 4 hours to escape such a fuel cell. And when lit, it simply burns like a torch and does not ignite the entire cell like a bomb. Of course the oil-soaked mainstream media would have you believe otherwise.

Take into account the wars waged in Iraq and across the Middle East can all essentially be boiled down to war for oil. Looking at the combination of electric and hydrogen powered vehicles as a one-two punch against Big Oil, you can see why the corporate controlled media is running a smear campaign against Elon Musk. The launch of the affordable Tesla Model 3 and the Tesla Roadster has Big Oil worried.
