Luis Almagro, secretary general of the Organization of American States (OAS), denounced before the UN, that Cuba exports "blatantly" its operative mechanics of repression to the continent.

"It is estimated that at least 22,000 Cubans infiltrated the Venezuelan regime," the diplomat said.

Almagro also denounced that they hold important positions in "several government agencies of Venezuela" specifically in the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin), the main apparatus "of repression and death, against internal enemies".

He pointed out that Cubans "work hard" to keep the Maduro regime in power at the moment that Venezuela is experiencing the greatest humanitarian crisis it has ever experienced, with a shortage of "unprecedented" medicines and food.

Almagro emphasized that Maduro continues to send millions of barrels of oil to Cuba, whom he indicated as political leaders of Nicolás; instead of investing resources in the population. He also highlighted the repression suffered by those who raise their voices against the policies imposed by the Venezuelan leader.

"Maduro has put into practice a pattern of systematic abuse against those who dare to express an opinion contrary to that of the government (...) forced disappearances, secret detentions, torture, murders of demonstrators," the secretary general said.
