Learning From The Medici : A 5 Minutes Freewrite.

I once watched a documentary on the Medici, a flamboyant family some centuries ago in Europe, they were credited to having a very strong impact in all of Europe and Italy especially, and if I recalled well on there case without spying on Wikipedia for help. I learnt that they were hunted down politically when there influence starts to grow too far into the high ranking officials in the country.
That been said, I've also been able to read some documents about them, one from Jehovah Witness booklet "Awake" to some encyclopedia, and found a correlating information. It all boils to one part, doing good which is good, but when the light of politics and power shines on it or get manipulated by it, it can hunt the doer, no one cares if what you're doing is good, if the high political class don't like it or it obstruct there view or agenda, they easily label it as wrong and quickly make the masses to believe so. Many philanthropist has died in the hands of this secretive world power who has ever all the machinery to manipulate the populace at the touch of a button.

While we sit behind our television, they do the neccesary: they manipulate our minds, while we listen to the radio : they toy with our thoughts, and this set of people wouldn't dare stop, they will never, like I said earlier, the power is in there hands, rewriting history to there favour is there hobby. And we the consumer, sits down there and gulp it down our throats courtesy of the TV.
The salient point now is, who will bell the cat? Any Guy Fawkes again?, an anonymous?, who could muster up the energy to liberate we the dummy masses. If there is none, then let's continue as we are. Sad.

Excellent article and very truthful information. I don't watch television as a rule, I find it obnoxious, for the most part, and I agree and have been telling my family and friends about the dangers of allowing their children to sit there and allow that garbage to go into their brains. Television and modern media is one of the most Insidious things out there. Social media has taken over where television has left off and so many people have just pulled on the wall in that form. Where there's a place to control and to communicate there will be people who are willing to sit back and watch and eat the popcorn and let their minds rot.
The TV was said to be the devil's box, but I never get to believe that. I think it depends on what you make do with it.

The Medici family were not some philandropic banking group, whose only interest was the well-being of the Florentine poor. Cosimo was exiles for political machinations, but on his return, he efficiently purged Florence of his political opponents. He even exiled one of his banking competitors, who was not political, quipping: what use was all his money, if it was not used for buying political influence. The Medici scions were de facto kings of Florence. Family of Medici withered away, not from political persecution, but more through disinterest and laziness of later scions.
Those who attain the type of wealth like the Medici, Fuggers, Albizzi, etc. play in political game. Their downfall is usually due to political miscalculation, and occasionally from sloth. There are no innocents in the game of power politics. All are guilty, only the crimes to be attributed has not been sorted.
Waoh, I must say a very big thank you for putting me through in history, I actually know the banking part but forgot to include it.
I kind of like the name, Medici, am reading more about them now.

Medici Money by Tim Parks is a quick and easy read. The Fuggers were equally as wealthy and influential, but not as well-known in the Anglophone world, due to their being the Habsburg bankers, working in the Holy Roman Empire and Imperial Spain.
