RE: Trump : Take over of Venezuela

don't you think accepting foreign intervention is the way to go

No, I do not think so, it does not matter whether it is a failure or not. That's what democracy is all about. You have to take responsibilities for your actions, otherwise, when are you going to learn from your mistakes? This has been the history of Venezuela all over again, we have to go through so many fail states and we have had so many overthrown that this is something very common. I do not care and the majority of Venezuelans do not care whether we are a failure or not. The problem is ours and no one should have the right to tear down our country just like the middle east. You don't even understand and I think you have to read more about international law, UN charter and also history. Interventions are proven to be a wrong measure to take. It just ends up creating migrating problems, destroying, even more, the country and its political institutions.

People advocated change, civil war started, many lives were lost, but wouldn't you argue that this sacrifice has lead to more peace and stability in the region?

Because it was the US itself who decided to tear down the tyranny of the British empire, it was neither Mexico nor Canada who confronted the British Empire it was the US. No one else.

Blacks now have the human rights they deserve, as opposed to those in the past.

After 160 years of oppression and not being recognized as full citizens of the US? going through lynchings, massive violation of the human rights, and Racism? I think you are being very naive with your point of view, and this is clearly due to a lack of understanding of history. I would recommend you to read more and to dig deeper into this intervention and the US history and its foundation.

I think while its an ideal to achieve, Venezuelan could be much better off with a foreign aide, instead of pulling itself into a deeper problem.

But then you are violating the right to self-determination, the soverengty, and the will of the Venezuelans who elected Maduro.

While foreign intervention might not be successful, I think that doing the same and not changing anything is an even worse solution.

Dude, I think, and seriously you have to read more about the middle east and the harm caused there. I'm leaving you some documentaries about foreign intervention and its results.

I think you need to look at history and apply them from a non-biased and 3rd party perspective. No history ever repeats itself, as no one can replicate the exact same conditions of a certain event.

You should talk about honouring the UN when Venezuela at least contributes its necessary requirements to the UN, instead of just championing its rights and asking for respect when Venezuela does not even give its due contribution to the UN. I think you are expecting too much from the world.

So do you think that blacks in America are worse off now? Should the fact that blacks now are living a relatively better life now in America be overlooked, just because of their horendous suffering and past? While this might relate to you directly due to your ethnicity, I recommend you to look at the world from a third person perspective, without any bias. So should America have not gone through the civil war? Should it not be celebrated that RELATIVELY, they live a much better life now, compared to blacks in the past?

In the case of US, they freed themselves from British colony because they were ABLE to do so, and they have succeeded, clearly unlike the Venezuela situation. You seem to be holding onto a belief that doing things without foreign intervention, failing and learning seems the way to go.

While I agree that foreign intervention has been a huge failure in the past, Wouldn't you also agree that every single situation, be it middle east, Asia, or Latin America, is situation of its own, and should not be compared to one another? Then, how is it fair to judge that future foreign interventions will be a failure too?

I think you are involving too much personal feelings, while I can take your criticisms with an open mind, I hope you try not to bring emotions into discussions, as they may cloud your rational judgement.

It is obvious that we have very different views and opinions, which I am sure as educated individuals we can all agree to disagree!

However, I will take a look at the video you have recommended to revisit what I already know, and hopefully it will further my knowledge and maybe I can gain new insights on these topic. Thank you once again for your suggestions!
