When Censorship is the Default Setting

in #informationwar5 years ago

Instagram, the popular Facebook-acquired (why?!) social media platform has been inheriting a lot of its new parent company's policies, not the good ones though.

The BBC reported this story where a fishmonger's picture posing with one of his fish he's marketing was censored by the multi-billion dollars platform for violating their policy, before later apologizing and reinstating the post.

This is not about this particular incident as few would think, this is what pushed tens of thousands of real activists out of Facebook and its subsidiaries and affiliates as well, this guy managed to 'escape' with this incident first for taking it to the media which actually accepted to publish his story, then because his post doesn't conflicts with the agendas of those in power in the West.

He got the post reinstated faster because it's his first time 'violating the policy', for someone like myself I had a video taken out from my YouTube channel with a warning, then another then they reinstated the first one then later after just one day they removed 3 videos at the same time with 3 reports of violation and because at that time they had already 4 'violations by me' the whole YouTube channel was removed with over 500 videos documenting critical events and stories in the Syrian crisis and the involvements of foreign powers directly selling advanced weapons to terrorist groups and commanding their attacks on Syrian military and civilian infrastructure in my country.

If you consider the latest Yemeni attack against Saudi Aramco facilities to be condemned although it's in self defense and comes after 4.5 years of being bombed and massacres by the Saudis with full impunity, how would you describe a CNN crew bombing am oil pipeline in the city of Homs, Central Syria, back in the early days of the Syrian crisis in the coldest winter recorded in the past 5 decades cutting heating, electricity, and fuel off half of the Syrian population then blaming the Syrian seemed forces for their heinous attack?

That was one of the videos on my channel showing the CNN criminal crew who forgot their cameras rolling and were live stealing using Syria's own telecommunication system consuming high bandwidth for long which alerted the technicians.

We're thankful there are platform like Steemit which is not yet controlled but the Pentagon, as it seems to is so far.
