Whenever did Iran officially state it's behind roadside bombs that killed any civilian anywhere including USAians?
What does Trump mean by 'our people'? If he's referring to soldiers and mercenary contractors and terrorists, this might explain his response but still when did the Iranian government or Iranian state adopt any such roadside bombing?
We all saw Trump himself adopting the killing of an Iranian top official, maybe the 2nd or 3rd ranking official in the country, to make it simple to the USAians let me borrow what the Chief of Hezb Allah compared the slain Iranian general with a USAian counterpart: 'If we want to put a target of value in the US administration, who to choose: Chief of Staff? Head of Centcom (US armies in the region)? Head of the Pentagon (or whoever)?' He added: 'The shoes of Soleimani is more valuable than the head of Trump and his entire administration'.
When Trump decided to kill such a person it's a war crime and gave the Iranians the right to respond at par and even more for deterrence, as per international law. Trump's further response will call on the Iranians to double down on their response multiple times more, can Trump afford the price especially in an election year and when half of his own country is against him?
Iran, on the other side, can sustain an attack like what the USA did to Iraq 2003, the height of the US capabilities, the main question is whether the US or all of its allies in the region can sustain any Iranian retaliation? 10 missiles by the Yemenis halved the Saudi's output of oil = half of their economy, what if Yemen alone retaliated? Add to it then everybody else then think Iran.
