Handgun Wounding Factors: An Effectiveness Guide for Law Enforcement

in #informationwar4 years ago

How do we create the ultimate stopping
power for law enforcement?

As the primary weapon of law enforcement, the handgun is purposed with applying deadly force to protect the life of the officer and to prevent or minimize serious physical harm to the public from a threat. When an officer involved shooting occurs, it’s done so with the specific intent of immediately incapacitating the individual causing a threat. Immediate incapacitation is the sole goal of any law enforcement shooting and informs their decision making regarding weapons, calibers, ammunition, and training.

Because a lot is at stake when an officer is required to take action with their handgun, selecting effective ammunition is critical. This guide discusses existing research on caliber wounding factors and effectiveness. Read Handgun Wounding Factors: An Effectiveness Guide for Law Enforcement at Ammo.com.

The existing ammo in use today seems to work very well when shooting a "suspect" in the back with hands raised... total police invoved fatalities 2019,,, 935 that were reported.

Works well for homeowners protecting their families, or folks otherwise preventing their victimization by violent assailants. That would include rogue cops.

Not a big fan of police brutality myself, but I have to point out that the vast majority of police involved fatalities do not involve suspects shot in the back of the head while their hands are raised, unlike you imply.

I also think you're underreporting total police involved fatalities, as that number is far too low to represent global numbers. I bet you're reporting US police, which would be a useful bit of information that would help people understand the gravity of the problem.

I don't think casting false aspersions on law enforcement positively contributes to rational efforts to reduce police brutality. There's enough vicious savagery committed to encourage good people to work to prevent it. Misinformation only strongly discourages such folks when they discover they've been misled by making them question the evidence that led them to take action.

@valued-customer, You are absolutely right in just about everything, especially underreporting "Police involved fatalities". There is NO central clearing spot for this particular search, when including "Native American" in the criteria, you come up with just 2. The FBI doesn't even track police shootings.
Having worked with criminal defense for 25 years it is a tragedy when police break into a wrong house, un-announced, and the single mother says "I'm armed please get out of my house", then hears more crashing she fires a round into the ceiling then is confronted with 8 heavily armed police in full combat gear. The police went to her trial stating they were "in fear of their lives" so she got 25 years. Her infant son almost got shot when he started crying in his crib.
I am not a fan of modern police. Mitch, just whining again..
Thanks my friend!!
