INFLUENCE: WHAT MAKES A GREAT LEADER.

According to John Maxwell,"Leadership is influence, nothing more, nothing less."
He went further to explain that "if you are leading and no one is following, you are only taking a walk." Leading is not about giving orders and making people do things your way, instead it is about influencing them to follow you either by actions or a way of thinking.
Influence is Both Positive and Negative.
Influence is influence whether it is positive or negative, and it is the dividing factor between a leader and a follower. The person who has the most influence is regarded as the leader in a particular situation. It is not about the position or a rank someone has.
We have seen people influencing others in various ways either to follow their philosphies or to perform certain acts and people willingly follow them. This is not because they are gaining something, but, they have been made to believe in something that they have made that belief their own.
Leaders Influence Thought.
Martin Luther King Jr. was a leader because he was able to influence many people to a certain way of thinking by selling them his dream of unity and oneness. He said, "A time is coming when the black and white children will come together and hold hands."
Influential leaders have the ability to present things in a way that people come to believe that those things are theirs and they are willing to die for them. With the factor of influence, you can be able to separate a great leader from an average leader.
Leaders Leave a Legacy.
Leadership is about the lives a person can affect and not about the people you can manage. A great leader is someone whose impact can be felt. It is a person who has brought changes, a person who has added their voice to real issues in society, a person whose footprint can be seen everywhere they have walked. A leader makes a tangible difference, and starts a movement that is bigger than him/herself.
