West Sumatra is a province on the island of Sumatra on the southern coast. West Sumatra is often called 'Sumbar' is in the western mountains of the hill line so it has a geographical shape that is a bumpy form of hills and mountains.

For those of you who want to travel to West Sumatra following I will briefly describe some galleries that may interest you


1. Mentawai Beach


Regency of Mentawai Islands with its capital Pejat Sipora, located approximately 135 km from Padang City and can be reached by sea route with an estimated time of 6-10 hours. In addition to having a beautiful beach with white sand, attractions or attractions of the famous marine tourism is a surfing activity that can be done around the island of Siberut and Sipora. Accommodation for visitors is available in some district and towns in Mentawai islands.

If you want to surf with different levels, Mentawai Islands is a suitable surfing spot. The islands located off the coast of Padang, West Sumatra Province has 400 surf spots with different difficulty levels. Around 40 surfing points are a favorite of foreign surfers, one on Sipora Island. The island that was hit by a tsunami in 2010 and then was included in the list of 20 best surfing spot in the world version of CNN Travel. Because of the love of surfers of the world and local surfers to Sipora Island, making it rise to become a convenient location for surfing. They worked together to help restore the island's condition after the tsunami.


2. Twin Lakes


Both lakes are known as Twin Lakes. Both lakes are located in Simpang Village Village, Lembayang Jaya Sub-district, Solok District, approximately 47 km from Solok City and 56 km from Padang City. The uniqueness of the twin lakes is to go to the lake above we have to go through a declining path, while to get to the lake below we have to go through a climbing path. And around the lake are planted passion fruit with sweet flavor, vegetables, and potatoes.

When these two lakes are viewed from above, it will be seen clearly two lakes that are similar to the color of blue water, and as if in pairs, it is no wonder if the two lakes were nicknamed by the name of Twin Lakes. Both depths are different, the lake above has a depth of more than 500 meters while the lake below the depth of only 44 meters. Twin Lakes is located in the Bukit Barisan highlands so the air in this area is so cool with the expanse of trees that grow around the lake.

When viewed from a distance, then the view of Twin Lake is also very impressive, and also looks green and beautiful. This is because around the Twin Lakes is used by locals for plantations. The inhabitants of this lake cultivate many vegetables such as carrots, cabbage, cinnamon, and others. Around this Twin Lake tourists can also find tea plantations and passion fruit plantations.


3. Anai Valley


The Anai Valley environment is amazing. The impressive tropical forest is impressive and is a protected forest. Below, the Batang Anai River flows with clear water and a 40-meter-high waterfall is very close to the highway.

When passing, just a few meters from the shoulder of the road, every rider will witness the beauty of water spilled from a high cliff. Not infrequently riders choose to pause, rest while enjoying the beauty of Anai Valley Waterfall. Probably not many people know that this waterfall on the roadside is just one of seven waterfalls that are owned by Anai Valley Nature Reserve area. In addition to the nature reserve area, we can travel trekking for about 2 hours to be able to see the six other waterfalls.


4. Ngalau Indah Cave


Ngalau Indah has located about 4 km from downtown Payakumbuh or 31 km from Bukit Tinggi. This object is a natural cave with some cave mouth as access in and out. Inside this huge cave, we can see the beauty of stalagtites and stalagmites that are still well preserved. In the cave area (belly cave), this cave has a large enough space inside. Stalagmites and stalactites are scattered in several corners of the cave, with various exquisite and exotic forms.

In the cave with a height of 640 mdpl there are also a number of parts of the cave that has a unique shape and very distinctive. One of them is a rock gong. Stone Gong is a hollow stone with hollow or bell cone shape. Right on the left side of the cave entrance. Its unique shape makes this stone produce a fairly loud sound reflection.


5. Pagaruyung Palace


The palace was built by the royal family Pagaruyung in Batusangkar which has a characteristic Minangkabau tribe. Inside the palace, there are royal heritage items that are still well preserved. Around this palace, we can enjoy the natural beauty with cool air. Located in Tanjung Emas Subdistrict, Tanah Datar Regency.

Pagaruyung is the location of the residence of King Minangkabau as the center of government. Now there is a replica of the original palace with paintings on the outside wall and a towering buffalo-shaped roof.

Pagaruyung Palace is believed to have existed long before the Republic of Indonesia was founded. No one knows for sure, as this palace stands. Some say, Pagaruyung Palace was built about 1 or 2 years before the reign of Adityawarman (1347-1376). But the palace you see here is not the original palace. The original Pagaruyung palace was destroyed in 1804, and its location in Batu Patah Hill, Batusangkar. The palace was built in 1976. The laying of the 'tuo' or pole was mainly done on December 27, 1976 by the then Governor of West Sumatra.
