Very happy to announce - All is quiet on the Western (Bali) Front!

The miners have been silent for the last week!

Could my words here to the Steemit community have somehow made a difference to this situation???

Sandstone mining goes on all the way up this river (which you can see on the right side of the above image, taken using my drone) and the shaping of the individual blocks which are cut away from the land is particularly loud.

Any pieces of sandstone which are too small to be cut to the required size are thrown into the river, over the years causing the water level to rise, covering the river bed with rock instead of sediment.

The ecological impact is unknown, but you can be sure there is an impact!

It appeared as if they were setting up camp to start a new mine, almost directly under us in the valley but ever since I flew my drone down there a week ago, they have been silent.

Perhaps they didn't like the thought of being photographed?

Or perhaps they thought it was a demon?

Whatever the reason is, I am very happy to tell you all that for now we are experiencing the natural sound of the jungle and river by day, with only the distant sound of mining, further up the river.

Whilst it may no longer be our problem, it is STILL a problem here in BALI and I will continue to post about this subject till the ILLEGAL river mining is stopped on this entire island.
